Perinatal Mood Concerns
Perinatal Mood Concerns

I am passionate about supporting new and expecting mothers through the complex changes that often occur throughout pregnancy and early parenthood. Pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood is often romanticized in society as a magical time. While this can be true at times, this narrative rarely tells the whole story of real lived experiences, which are often more nuanced and messy.

Whether you are experiencing changes in your mood, grappling with your identity as a new parent, or wondering what it means to be a good enough parent in a world full of expectations, I am here to meet you where you are with a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental ear. The perinatal period is a unique time in your life that is deserving of individualized education, resources, and support-which we will navigate together.

Depression
Depression

Depression can present itself as low motivation, difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, feeling down or depressed, feeling more irritable than usual, changes in sleep or appetite, diminished energy, or having trouble enjoying the things you would typically enjoy. You may have experienced these episodes periodically throughout your life, these symptoms may have arisen in the context of a particular stressor, or they may have seemingly come out of nowhere. Together, we will work to improve your mood and confidence, strengthen your coping skills, understand factors underlying or contributing to your symptoms, and help you feel more present and connected to the things in life that matter most to you.

Anxiety
Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as chronic feelings of fear, dread, uneasiness, tension, or worry. Anxiety may lead to frequent rumination or stressful thought cycles, worries about the future, or frequently feeling as if something bad is going to happen. You may frequently feel keyed up or on edge, have difficulty relaxing, notice changes in your sleep or appetite, or experience changes in your body (e.g., shortness of breath, shakiness, sweatiness, muscle tension, gastrointestinal problems, etc.). Anxiety can at times be quite adaptive, as it can help us anticipate and prepare for real threats, and motivate us to work toward our goals and put forth our best effort. Other times, anxiety can prevent us from connecting to the people or things in our life that matter most. In our work together, we will help you feel more grounded, balanced, and connected to your values. I typically treat generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks.

Relationship Issues
Relationship Issues

Perhaps you are experiencing conflict or are at a crossroads in an important relationship. Maybe you are feeling stuck in repetitive relationship patterns, or you would like to better understand yourself in the context of your family or other important relationships. In our work together, I aim to empower you with insight, effective tools or communication skills, and more confidence in establishing and maintaining meaningful connections.

Life Transitions or Adjustments
Life Transitions and Adjustments

Many people seek therapy for support navigating a change or adjustment in their life. Examples may include a graduation, a job loss or change, the beginning or end of a romantic relationship, the loss of a loved one, moving to a new place, or taking on a new role in life. Change can bring up complex feelings such as uncertainty, fear, excitement, relief, or loss. In our work together, we will create a compassionate space for these feelings, and help you navigate this change with confidence and a sense of grounding in your values and decisions.
